The Greater Des Moines Partnership and United Way of Central Iowa will host the eighth annual Inclusion Summit via Zoom on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. The event?s theme is ?Rising to the Equity Challenge'' which aims to cultivate a community conversation about actively making diversity, equity and inclusion a priority in Greater Des Moines (DSM). 21-Day Equity Challenge This year's Inclusion Summit features collaboration with United Way to wrap up the 21-Day equity Challenge. Leading up to the Inclusion Summit is the 21-Day Equity Challenge supported by United Way of Central Iowa. The 21-Day Equity Challenge is a powerful opportunity for shared learning and growth and invites central Iowans to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect our lives and community. The challenge will help thousands of central Iowans unite to learn and grow together, and help us all address equity issues in our community. Even in West Des Moines. 1) Decorate your car for the holidays ? the more outrageous the better! 2) Visit your favorite store and purchase DMARC?s most needed items; peanut butter, fruit canned in its own juice, low sugar/high-fiber cereal (click here to find out more) 3) Drive to The Hall, drop off your donation, and have your photo taken of your car on Dec 17th from 11:00am ? 1:30pm 4) Vote for your favorite decorated wheels 5) Win bragging rights and prizes! 10% of the proceeds of support sponsorships will be donated to DMARC. To make a donation to DMARC for this campaign, click here. The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is an interfaith organization with a mission of meeting basic human needs in the greater Des Moines community. The DMARC Food Pantry Network provides a free, three-day supply of nutritionally-balanced food once per calendar month, with additional items available whenever a food pantry is open. Last year, DMARC assisted more than 55,000 individuals in Greater Des Moines, with 35% of those assisted being children and youth age 17 or younger. DMARC?s Food Pantry Network consists of 14 partner food pantries, about 30 mobile food pantry locations, six Refuel Station stops at local Boys & Girls Club locations (providing children and their families healthy and kid-friendly food), two food warehouses, and numerous community partners. Established in 1976, it is the largest food pantry network in Iowa, with pantry sites located in West Des Moines, Ankeny, Clive, Johnston, Urbandale, and Des Moines.
