  • About

At The Little Book and The Bank at The Little Book, our mission is to create meaningful connection in the Des Moines Community through the creation of a space welcoming of all ages, focusing on literacy, community wellness, and inclusion. Centering the voices of Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, as well as the LGBTQ2S+ communities is and will always be of top priority. We believe that all people deserve knowledge, truth, and access to books - and both as booksellers and caretakers of children, we stand against book banning in all of its forms.

The creations of local makers, artists, and authors are much of what fill our shelves. We aim to add tangible value to the Highland Park/Oak Park communities.

The Bank at The Little Book is a beautiful event space attached to The Little Book available for the public to rent for private events and for occasional workshops and vendor markets hosted by The Little Book.

Co-owners Bethany and David Fast hope that when you step through their doors, you feel the love, thoughtfulness, and care that was poured into every detail of the store, and that when you leave, you look forward to your next visit.

We hope you Find The Little Joys.
