    Welcome to Newton!

    Newton is an active, ''can-do'' type of community which offers many opportunities for participation including city government, school activities, the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the library, Retired Senior Volunteer Program/Jasper County Volunteer Program (for all ages) just to name a few. Also, we are very proud of our progressive city government, which in recent years has received numerous state awards as well as seven national awards from groups such as the American Economic Development council, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the International City/County Management Association.

    Please take advantage of the many attractions, which the Newton area has to offer including the Iowa Speedway, Jasper County Museum, Newton Public Library, YMCA/Community Center/Community Theater, Lake Red Rock and many other recreational opportunities. Soon you will find as we have that Newton is a great place to live and enjoy.
