KEY in Des Moines stands for Keeping Educated Youth in Des Moines. It is a program connecting employers with area colleges and universities for workforce attraction. Every other month the group hosts free educational sessions. KEY in Des Moines is a division of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce.

The duo will take you on a journey of Iowa Workforce Development’s Labor Market Information site to answer your questions on employer benefits, potential workforce, occupational wages and forecasts of Iowa’s industries and occupations.
Donna is the Bureau Chief within the Labor Market Information Division of Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). She began working for IWD in 1997. Donna supervises and directs operations of staff for the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) programs which produce and disseminate labor market information products and services. The products include the labor market information website, occupation and industry projections, licensed occupations, career publications and workforce and economic analysis and publications.
Donna oversees several Bureau of Labor Statistics federal-state cooperative programs for IWD. This includes the Occupational and Employment Statistics (OES), Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS), Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) and Current Employment Statistics (CES). The OES program produces occupational wage and employment data, LAUS produces employment and unemployment levels and unemployment rates, QCEW provides data on industry employment, wages, and number of business establishments and CES provides monthly industry employment, hours and earnings of workers. She also manages the national Automated Current Employment Statistics (ACES) system. Members of the team are responsible for maintaining the system used by CES and providing standardized data processing and support to all users.
Donna attended Drake University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Master of Public Administration, and a Certificate of Public Management.
Ryan Murphy
Ryan is the Bureau Chief of the Research & Analysis Bureau within the Labor Market Information Division of Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). This bureau is responsible for developing and providing customized data products that assist with workforce development, economic development, business, and education efforts at state, regional, and local levels. He has worked within IWD’s Labor Market Information Division for 15 years.
Ryan attended the University of Northern Iowa where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics with an emphasis in community economic development. He then went on to earn a Master of Public Administration from Drake University and is a graduate of their Certified Public Manager Program. He is also a member of the Professional Developers of Iowa.
