This lunch 'n learn session will help you, as an employer,  be proactive in the event of an unemployment insurance appeal hearing.  If you have not been through the process before, or wish to refresh your knowledge on the subject, join us for this lunch 'n learn hosted by the PACE Alliance, Marion County Development Commission and the Marion County Employers Council (ECI) of Iowa.  Emily Chafa, Iowa Workforce Development Unemployment Appeals Manager will join us for the conversation.

This session will answer questions on:

  • Preparations for the appeal hearing
  • Expectations for the appeal hearing process
  • Differences between fact finding interviews and the appeal hearing
  • Common issues in unemployment appeals (misconduct; quit vs. discharge; part-time and temporary assignments; drug testing requirements, etc.)
