“When we avoid difficult conversations, we trade short term discomfort for long term dysfunction.” - Peter Bromberg We can’t avoid hard conversations. We can, however, learn how to navigate them in a way that brings better outcomes for all parties. In this session, you will learn common errors, like softening the issue and storing up all of your frustrations. Together, we will learn the components of an effective opening statement. You will have the opportunity to create an action plan and develop an opening statement for a difficult conversation you need to have.
Dr. Lisa Hartman has spent her career in education and is driven by supporting others in their learning and growth journeys. Lisa earned her doctorate in leadership at Creighton University. She also obtained her master’s in education from Creighton. Prior to these degrees, Lisa was named the Student of the Year at College of St. Mary, where she earned her master’s of arts in teaching. She also attended Iowa State University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in English – Rhetoric & Professional Communication. After brief stints in technical writing and insurance, Lisa recognized that her passion and purpose was in education. She knew the day she stepped foot in a classroom that she would forever have a passion for education. Lisa has taught a variety of subjects to a variety of grade levels, including teaching English to adults. Lisa transitioned into school leadership and during her time as a school administrator, she has overseen every grade level from PK-12. Lisa currently serves as a Director of Educational Services for an Area Education Agency in Iowa. This career journey has inspired Lisa to continue to coach and support others.
