This Top Five series will feature experts in human resources, marketing, accounting, IT and others. They will introduce five things on certain topic that will help you be successful in your small business.

At this Top Five session, attendees will learn how to determine which social media platforms perform best for their business and how to effectively communicate with followers on those platforms. We’ll cover how to take advantage of what social media offers for free and how to maximize results when paid media is required. We'll touch on "best practices" to use when creating a social media policy for your business, how to create contextual content that gets noticed and how influencer marketing can work on a local level. Plus, we’ll discuss what the latest, greatest trends are in social media, including potential emerging platforms.

Adam has nearly six years of media industry experience and an additional two years of experience in higher education enrollment services. Backed by his knowledge of the social media space, many of Adam’s accounts have been among the first to venture into “new mediums” in their respective markets. His expertise crosses multiple platforms and includes years of managing business accounts and paid promotions on Facebook/Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Snapchat. Adam has worked on a variety of business categories, both large and small, ranging from financial institutions, colleges and universities, car dealerships and various government state-funded departments. Certified as a Social Media Strategist by the Social Media Academy as well as the Hootsuite Academy, Adam enjoys keeping up with the always-changing world of social media. When he’s not working on social media, he’s using social media to stay updated with basketball, what’s happening in pop culture and posting Instagram Stories of his 1-year old, Mavrik.
 
Karlyn plays a key role in developing media strategies and recommendations for clients in the Bucket Media Des Moines office. She is a seasoned advertising and marketing professional with over twenty-years’ experience in media strategy, research, planning/buying and analytics across traditional, digital and social channels. Her robust knowledge across a variety of media platforms allows her to identify the best methods for reaching a target audience based on the fragmented media consumption habits among consumers today. She has experience executing campaigns across traditional and new media channels for clients in grocery, insurance, healthcare, lottery/gaming, animal health and a variety of other industry segments.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, boating, attending a concert or can likely be found at the ball fields or a dance competition cheering on her two children, Jake and Alexis.
