Event Description:
June is Immigrant Heritage Month. A recent article in the Des Moines Register highlighted that Des Moines has attracted more immigrants than any other Heartland city, increasing its foreign-born population by 50%, which is second-highest in the nation.

Immigrants have been a vital part of our community, contributing tremendously to the economic and cultural vitality.

Join this webinar to learn about the demographic and economic contributions the foreign-born population have made in the Greater Des Moines region, as well as throughout Iowa. In the United States, immigrants are more likely to be working age, play essential roles in the workforce, and contribute hundreds of billions of dollars in federal income, state, and local taxes. A presentation from New American Economy will explore the data around these contributions.

Hear from multiple nonprofits serving immigrants and preparing them for employment, and learn how you can connect with them to source talent.
Invited non-profits;
  • Lutheran Services of Iowa
  • Project Iowa
  • Central Iowa Works
  • Office of Latino Affairs
Hear three high skilled immigrants discuss their experiences and journey trying to find professional jobs in Iowa. We will have the opportunity to learn about their challenges, and find ways to connect with high-skilled talent who are ready to work.
  • Samuel Atadoga, AVP/Control Adoption Lead - IAM Governance & Business Enablement, Wells Fargo
