Event Description:
Black Iowans make up 4% of the population, but they constitute 20% in our jails and 24% in our prisons. Nationwide, one in five Black individuals born in 2001 is likely to be incarcerated in his or her lifetime, compared to one in 10 Latinx people and one in 29 white people. Join The Partnership for a conversation on smart justice reform and how we can put together direct, tangible and actionable steps to address the issue holistically. Panelists will share how they are creating meaningful change in the areas of diversion and prevention, sentencing reform, justice reinvestment, education, and fair chance employment.
