Salisbury House Foundation and Iowa Stage Theatre Company are excited to announce the return of a beloved summer tradition, Shakespeare on the Lawn, as a fundraising collaboration between the two non-profit organizations.
Join us for William Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy, King Lear, a wrenching story of endurance, love, loss and reconciliation. For five summer evenings, July 13-17, the play will be performed atop the English gardens and staged with the majestic backdrop of Salisbury House.
Nightly performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with one 20-minute intermission. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for seating. Lawn chairs are provided, however bag chairs and blankets are allowed in limited, designated areas. One small blanket per group please. Beer and wine (by the glass or bottle), non-alcohol beverages and ice cream will be sold at the event and picnics are welcome.
Advanced ticket purchase is required for all performances. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Ticket sales close Monday, July 11 and quantities are limited. Tickets are non-refundable or transferable to other performances or events (see rain policy on event website).
