Name: Positive Impact! | genYP Branding Yourself as a Professional Series, Presented by Midland Credit Union
Date: July 1, 2021
Time: 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM CDT
Event Description:

Join us for "Positive Impact! Using EQ and AI to create your organizational climate" with Dr. Chrystal Stanley, Director of Professional & Career Development at Drake University. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict. Appreciative inquiry (AI) is a positive and collaborative group of techniques aimed at improving effective leadership and organizational and societal change. Combined, these two approaches can radically change your organizational climate. During this session, you will be challenged to think differently about how an individual, at any level of leadership, can positively impact the culture and outcomes of their organization. This activity-heavy session is sure to give you at least two proactive steps you can take today to improve your work climate, strengthen your leadership, decrease your stress, and enrich your life.

The Branding Yourself as a Professional Workshop Series is designed to provide young professionals with information to excel in their professional and civic endeavors. The series includes four different workshop classes. Participants will be introduced to new tools to bolster their careers, interact with leaders, and be challenged as future leaders.
Dr. Chrystal Stanley is the Director of Professional & Career Development at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  She received her BA degree from Central College in English, her MS degree from Drake University in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Iowa State University. She is also a Certified Appreciative Advisor.
Chrystal is the recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Award for her work with individuals with disabilities.  She also received two Drake University's Called to Be True Blue awards for excellence; the Iowa Bar Association's Award for Citizenship; the Innovations in Rural Independent Living Community Resource Development Award; and the Grimes Citizen of the Year Award for community involvement.
