Event Description:
On Sept. 6 & 7, Hospice of Pella at Pella Regional Health Center will be hosting 2-day conference on grief for hospice staff, community bereavement volunteers, and individuals who deal with loss throughout the two days. All workshops will be held at Third Reformed Church, 708 E 13th St, and are FREE and open to the public. Alan Wolfeldt will be the speaker. Schedule is as follows:
-Sept. 6, 9 am – 3 pm: Companioning the Bereaved: A Workshop for Caregivers
-Sept. 6, 7 – 9 pm: Understanding Your Grief: Touchstones for Hope and Healing
-Sept. 7, 9 am – Noon: Exploring "Complicated" Mourning: Sudden Death, Suicide Grief & Trauma Loss
The speaker, Dr. Alan Wolfelt, is founder and director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition. He is best known for his method of "companioning versus treating," simply meaning he is committed to helping others "mourn well so they can live well and love well."
