Event Description:

If you are looking for someone cute and cuddly to play with this spring, look no further than the Pella Pet Fest, hosted by the Marion County Humane Society.  The event will be at Caldwell Park in Pella on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

            Dogs and cats will be available for adoption. The adoption fee for dogs is $120 and cats is $90.  For animals six years or older, dogs will be $110 and cats are $80.  Families who adopt will receive a free membership to the Marion County Humane Society.  Each animal will come with an adoption kit, with several items to assist in taking care of the animal. All animals available for adoption are spayed or neutered, and are up to date on vaccinations.

             In addition to the adoptions, there will be other activities as well.  A pet show will conclude the event, with local celebrity judges presiding over the contest.  There will be categories for both dogs and cats, including: best vocalist, best owner-pet look alike, best-dressed, silliest pet trick, biggest, and smallest. Participants can sign up on the day of the event from 11a.m. to 12p.m.  The contest will start at 12 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to first place in each division.

            Other activities will include a pet toy creation station, face painting, kitten cuddling and puppy petting stations, as well as a chubby cat contest. 

            There will be a silent auction for pet themed items.  The event will also feature a bake sale, with treats for humans and pets.
