Name:
Non-Profit Forum - 2021 Nonprofit Trends + The Community Foundation as a Partner
Date:
January 20, 2021
Time:
8:30 AM - 10:00 AM CST
Event Description:
Nonprofit organizations have been hit hard by the long-term crisis of the pandemic. Many have been stretched to serve exponentially more clients, and others have had to indefinitely pause or quickly recalibrate programming.
The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines strives to serve as a partner for mission-driven leaders within our metro by promoting charitable giving, connecting donors to causes they care about and strengthening our nonprofit sector. Our motto is #bettertogether and we lean into collaboration to build a more vibrant community.
This session will outline ways in which the Foundation partners with the community, and touch on trends the sector is experiencing amidst massive disruption. Participants will gain a better sense of the charitable landscape in Des Moines and identify opportunities for deeper learning and connection.
Brianne Sanchez is Director of Nonprofit Relations at the Community Foundation. Prior, she has worked in a corporate foundation, higher education and small nonprofit. She began her career in journalism, which helped her to fall in love with Des Moines and continues to freelance for publications such as DSM Magazine. Brianne graduated with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English from the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned her Master of Public Administration from Drake University.
Brianne serves on the board for The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand, and the Polk County Conservation Advisory Board. She was a founding co-chair of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, was on the planning team for TEDxDesMoines and loves playing pollinator between people, ideas, and actions that can make our community stronger. She is married to Joe Jayjack, Communications Director for Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, and has two small children, Emmett and Eileen. Brianne’s favorite days involve riding her bike on trails to some sort of food destination, reading, and appreciating arts and culture with her family.
