MOXIE (Member Owners eXchange Information & Experience) is a group of member business Owners who meet monthly with ActionCoach, Greg Thompson, to discuss issues impacting their businesses.  

This month's featured speaker is Beth Shelton, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa addressing How to make innovative decisions in the workplace. 

In 2018 The Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa received National attention as they adopted a "infants at work" initative where new parents can bring their babies to work with them every day for up to six months.  

Learn from Beth how they shifted and bulit their office culture, and the impact it has had on employee retention, recruitment.

Speaker Bio:
    Beth Shelton is the Chief Executive Office of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, overseeing all operations for 13,500 members in portions of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
    Beth has extensive experience in organizational change, sales and recruitment, cause-marketing, advocacy and public speaking. Beth led Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa to record revenue and membership growth. She simultaneously spearheaded a cultural transformation that led to her organization being named on the selective Best Workplaces in Iowa in 2018. Beth was named on the People to Watch in 2017 list by the Des Moines Register, honored as a 40 under 40 by the Des Moines Business Record and highlighted in the Women Who Mean Business showcase by DSM Magazine. Beth received her undergraduate degree from Simpson College and her MBA from Drake University. Beth received the 2018 Alumni Achievement award from Simpson College. She serves as a guest lecturer in the Drake University MBA program and recently received the 2019 Young Alumni Achievement Award by Drake University. Beth was selected to serve on the Girl Scouts of the USA Cookie Steering Council, shaping national strategy for the nearly billion dollar Girl Scout cookie program. Beth recently completed a certificate program in Artificial Intelligence at MIT.
    She has served as an adjunct instructor in management and has won regional and national accolades for her work and innovation; highlighted on platforms ranging from Good Morning America, ABC World News Tonight and SiriusXM to Working Mother Magazine, USA Today and the Today Show.
    Beth, a life-long amputee, also serves on the board for the Iowa Amputee Golf Association, raising scholarships for families affected by the trauma and impact of limb loss. She has a lifelong love of sports, having been a 3-time collegiate MVP, and coaches youth teams in basketball and softball. She also serves on the Iowa Women Lead Change steering council and the Iowa Women of Achievement Awards Committee. She is involved in various philanthropic endeavors in central Iowa. Beth resides in Des Moines with her husband Mark, 3 children and 2 dogs.
