Dr. Cynthia Mahmood, Frank Moore Anthropologist-in-Residence,presents a lecture titled "Religion and Conflict Resolution: Taking the Risk of the Face-to-Face." Dr. Mahmood currently serves as an Associate Professor, a Fellow in the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and in the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies at Notre Dame. Previous positions include the University of Maine and Central College. Her primary research interests include the anthropology of violence, ethnographic methods and ethics in zones of conflict, religious militancy, and South Asia. Her books include The Guru's Gift: An Ethnography Exploring Gender Equality with North American Sikh Women (Mayfield) and Fighting for Faith and Nation: Dialogues With Sikh Militants (University of Pennsylvania Press). She has received teaching awards at Central College, University of Maine, and Notre Dame.
