12:30 to 1 p.m. Break
1 to 3 p.m. Workshop with Wendy Feliz, American Immigration Council
Given the workforce challenges faced in Central Iowa, business leaders avoid talking about immigration at their peril. But how can we stay out of the “swamp” of public opinion and have a productive discussion? Join Wendy Feliz, Communications Director of the American Immigration Council and adjunct professor in communication at Johns Hopkins University to find out. Based on recent nationwide research conducted by The Frameworks Institute, Wendy will show you how to turn a negative conversation on immigration into a productive one that emphasizes Americans’ shared values of prosperity, diversity and pragmatism. Concepts presented will change your approach to communication and dialogue.
All events are free and open to the public. However, you must register for the panel discussion and/or the workshop.
