Event Description:
The Des Moines Committee on Foreign Relations is delighted to announce the fifth evening in our 2017-2018 Speakers Series "Iowans in China" on Wednesday, January 17th. Our honored guests are: Kyle Munson, Iowa Columnist at the Des Moines Register; Lynn Hicks, the Register’s Opinion and Engagement Editor; and Dr. David Skidmore, Professor of Political Science at Drake University. All three gentlemen have traveled extensively in China. Mr. Munson’s recent Register series, “Iowa in the Heart of China” is a fascinating read. In addition to his travels in China, Lynn Hicks has chronicled much of former Iowa Governor Terry Brandstad’s first year as the US Ambassador to China and how Iowa’s relationship to China has evolved. Dr. Skidmore has taught at the Johns Hopkins-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies, and has authored several books on the subject of US Foreign Policy and Globalization.
The Des Moines Committee on Foreign Relations (DMCFR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing public dialogue on foreign relations.
