Event Description:
The Greater Des Moines partnership is excited to team up with the Iowa Women's Business Center to bring you First Fridays! The goal of First Fridays is for the aspiring entrepreneurs and the people of Des Moines to hear from business owners and entrepreneurs who have helped shape the communities in which we live. The speakers are makers, store owners, movers and shakers, creators of regional or national brands, and all have stories that are uniquely their own.
August 4th - Vanessa McNeal MSW, is an accomplished and acknowledged public speaker and storyteller. Through her work in speaking and film production, she informs and transforms audiences with her passion and veracity. Vanessa is a survivor of child abuse and sexual violence, but she uses her past as a vehicle to empower, educate, and inspire others. Vanessa is the producer of the internationally recognized documentary, “The Voiceless”. The Voiceless is an hour long documentary that features the stories of male survivors of sexual violence.
