**Emergency Preparedness: Building a Resilient Organization**

You are crucial to your organization. But what happens if you are suddenly removed from the equation?
Can the office access your files and calendar? Who has the passwords?
Where is the insurance policy? What if the office burns down?

Any one of us can be sidelined at any time, and none of us wants to leave a chaotic mess for someone else to decipher.

Join us as we discuss how to build an emergency toolbox to ensure your organization remains strong and functional when catastrophe hits. In this session, we'll explore strategies for centralized document storage, access and password management, essential document compilation, emergency contacts and procedures, business continuity planning, regular updates and training, backup systems, and physical security. By the end of our discussion, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to create a comprehensive plan that safeguards your organization against unexpected events.

Presented by: Maryfrances Evans, IRIS Executive Director
Maryfrances is a proud Des Moines native who built her television career as a producer/director for KCCI. Through her 26 years there, she climbed the ranks from entry-level assistant to newscast director to management. Evans realized her greatest dream through the adoptions of two infant daughters and left KCCI in 2006 to focus on parenting. She rejoined the full-time professional world as Executive Director of IRIS in 2010, finding a perfect fit in the technical, nonprofit, and radio communities. She has grown IRIS from 3,000 to 11,000 listeners statewide and continues to deploy emerging technologies to connect print-disabled listeners with local information they can’t get anywhere else. In 2012, Evans launched the IRIS Audio Description Program where trained volunteers call play-by-play on the visual elements of a performance or event. From Broadway to rodeos, art installations, weddings, funerals, fireworks and everything in between, IRIS delivers equal access to the community. Evans served on the FCC’s Video Programming Accessibility Advisory Committee in 2011 and graduated from the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute in 2012. She currently serves as president of the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS) Board of Directors and the Durand Heritage Foundation Board of Directors.
