DSM Intern Connection 2025 – Courageous and Clear: Navigating Conflict and Tough Conversations as a Young Professional
Whether you’re navigating your first internship or taking on more responsibility in a professional setting, conflict is unavoidable - and how you handle it shapes your credibility, relationships, and career path. This interactive workshop is designed to help emerging professionals build the confidence and communication skills needed to face hard conversations with clarity and composure.
You’ll learn how to:
- Identify the values that guide your leadership and decision-making
- Recognize emotional triggers and stay grounded under stress
- Respond to workplace tension with intention instead of reactivity
- Practice the art of apology using a four-step, research-backed framework to rebuild trust
- Build a personal "conflict compass" to help you lead through discomfort with confidence
The DSM Intern Connection event series returns to Greater Des Moines (DSM). The series will feature opportunities for interns and college-aged students to connect with community leaders and executives, as well as opportunities to network with fellow students while learning about what makes DSM unique and truly the place to be.
