DSM Intern Connection 2024 – On Purpose for a Purpose: Professional Presence with Laila Hajji Down Sponsored by EMC Insurance
The DSM Intern Connection event series returns to Greater Des Moines (DSM). The series will feature opportunities for interns and college-aged students to connect with community leaders and executives, as well as opportunities to network with fellow students while learning about what makes DSM unique and truly the place to be.
Professional presence is something we all know we should have in the workplace. After a pandemic of learning and working from home, we may be a little rusty about what that could mean to a future employer. Laila will guide participants through the ABCs of professional presence. Through activities and discussions, participants will have tools to take back to their internships and eventually their professional careers.
While a native of Oklahoma, Laila has called Iowa home for more than a decade. Laila has spoken to well over 150,000 people in over 45 states and across the globe. Laila served as the 2006 - 2007 Oklahoma FFA State Secretary and a 2008 - 2009 National FFA Vice President. Laila worked for Syngenta after graduating Texas Tech University with a degree in Agricultural Education. She managed a multimillion-dollar sales territory for Syngenta. After Syngenta, she had the honor of teaching high school agricultural education in downtown Des Moines at Central Campus High School. While she is a Red Raider through and through, she earned a master’s degree from Iowa State University in Agricultural Education where she served as a teaching and research assistant. She’s owned and operated Point One Development since 2016. Laila lives in Johnston, Iowa with her husband Kevin (an Odebolt, Iowa native), three young daughters Audrie, Ella, and Gentrie and their son, Jackson.
