Event Description:
The United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. It has housed the meeting chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives for almost two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government. The Capitol Visitors Center serves as the entryway and welcomes you on a journey of discovery. Inside the Capitol Visitor’s Center, you can take a walk-through Exhibition Hall, the only exhibition in the country dedicated to telling the story of Congress and the construction of the U.S. Capitol. Within the Capitol, you will see the Crypt of the Capitol, The Rotunda, and the National Statuary Hall (featuring the new Norman Borlaug statue), as well as the Gallery.

Wear comfortable shoes. Do not bring any aerosol, liquids or sharp objects with you.
Location:
Meet in the Washington Court Hotel Lobby at 2 p.m. and walk as a group to the Russell Senate Office Building, Room 111. Matthew Jensen with Senator Ernst's Office will meet the group to accompany you on the tour.
