Dementia Possible Care Seminars
Families, caregivers, and long term care professionals underestimate the abilities of individuals in mid-stage and late-stage dementia. Lanny Butler, occupational therapist and author, will provide a practical approach to caring for patients with dementia with examples to better understand how to best care for these individuals and challenge them to live a life full of joy.
Two free seminars are offered on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Third Reformed Church, with complimentary CEUs available for participants. In the morning session from 8:30-11:30 am, learn about the Global Deterioration Scale and the behavior in each stage of dementia. Learn to predict what functional abilities are still possible in the areas of self care.
In the afternoon session from 12:30-3:30 pm, you will learn to identify effective therapeutic approaches to dementia and learn specific modalities for dementia care.
