Event Description:
KEY in Des Moines stands for Keeping Educated Youth in Des Moines. It is a program connecting employers with area colleges and universities for workforce attraction. Every other month the group hosts free educational sessions. KEY in Des Moines is a division of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce.

Using data from the Center for Collegiate Mental Health Annual Report, the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors Annual Survey, the American College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment Undergraduate Student Reference Group Report, and the Healthy Minds Study, we’ll take a look at current trends in college student mental health to inform supporting, understanding, and engaging pending graduates entering the workforce.

Speaker: Katy Griner, Counselor at Simpson College
Bio: Katy Griner is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor entering her ninth year working in Simpson College’s Counseling Services. Katy earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Katy has 13 years of experience in mental health counseling. Prior to working at Simpson, Katy worked as a counselor at two community mental health agencies in Des Moines, and owned and operated a private practice. Prior to earning her Master’s degree, Katy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. Katy grew up in rural southeast Iowa and currently resides in West Des Moines. |
