Amy Holman is the Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. In this role, Holman leads the Department's efforts on creating jobs in the U.S., improving economic opportunities overseas, and strengthening American security. The Bureau strengthens the American economy by creating good conditions for American companies in global markets and bringing foreign investors to the U.S. to create jobs.
Holman has an extensive career in Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor. She has been the Bureau's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of African Affairs. Before that, she served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Dakar and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary and Office Director in the Trade Policy and Programs division of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs. She has also served in Brussels, Caracas, Islamabad, Kabul, Lagos and Lima. Holman received her master's degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, a B.A. from the University of Michigan, and a B.A, at the Université de Strasbourg, France. She share two sons and two daughters with her fiancé Roberto Garcia Saltos.
