Construction and Careers Expo 2018
Presented by: Central Iowa Apprenticeship Coordinating Committee
When: Thursday, Apr. 12 -OR- Friday, Apr. 13 from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Iron Workers Training Center | 2221 Ovid Avenue East | Des Moines, IA
Imagine your students getting to experience wiring a circuit, bending sheet metal or building a foundation wall. These are just a few examples of skills that are performed every day on job sites by professional tradespersons who were paid to learn their craft and graduate with no student loans.
From conceptual design to building completion, we want to help students, teachers, career counselors, administrators, and parents explore the many rewarding career opportunities in the construction industry that are literally building our communities. Each session will allow students to rotate through 10-12 stations with hands-on demonstrations of work typically done on a construction site. During the sessions students will have an opportunity to ask questions about careers in the skilled trades, learn how apprenticeship can prepare them for rewarding careers as a skilled crafts-person in the building trades, and understand which high school courses will help lay the groundwork to succeed in entering apprenticeship.
Help us make your students and families aware of high quality, high paying careers in construction by bringing students to the Expo and attending yourself.
To register just email: careerexpo@dmelejatc.org and let us know name of your school, how many students you would like to participate in any or all sessions and which day you plan to attend or you can email the registration form (found here) to careerexpo@dmelejatc.org.
