Event Description:
The Connect Downtown project is investigating exciting opportunities to make getting around Downtown feel safer, more comfortable, and convenient. Improving access to and within Downtown, regardless of whether you walk, bike, drive, or take transit, will help continue to build on the current momentum and vibrancy in Downtown Des Moines. Learn about the latest progress on the ‘Connect Downtown’ project and join the discussion by coming to our open house event.
The project team, which includes city planner and Walkable City author Jeff Speck, has developed strategies for enhancing streets in downtown Des Moines based on feedback received at the last Open House event in November and online. The team will introduce the Connect Downtown project and present findings from its analysis of a new vision for downtown streets. There will be time for questions where members of the public can discuss their impressions of proposed changes to downtown streets.
