Central College presents painter John Preston (Gallery)

Artist John Preston will be displaying his landscape paintings in the Central College Mills Gallery starting Feb. 20. Originally from the east coast, Preston moved to Fairfield, Iowa, to study in 1984. His popular landscapes derive from Jefferson and Van Buren counties, featuring fields, tree islands, fence rows and paths of gravel curving over prairies. The paintings are back dropped against a variety of weather events from his observations, memories and imagination. The exhibit will be open until March 22. In addition to his work in the gallery, Preston will host an artist talk and reception on March 27 at 5 pm. Preston’s work can be seen during gallery hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
