About Jeff Russell: Jeff Russell is the president and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa, the largest dental benefits carrier in Iowa. With more than 20 years’ experience in senior leadership roles, he has led companies of a variety of sizes: from start-ups to established companies embarking on transformation efforts.
Delta Dental provides dental and vision benefits to more than 985,000 members, including individuals and employees of more than 3,000 Iowa companies. As a not-for-profit insurance carrier, Delta Dental funds the company’s Public Benefit Program and Foundation which invest in projects to improve the oral health of Iowans. At year-end 2014, Delta Dental invested 40 percent of its earnings to the Foundation. Since 2002, Delta Dental has contributed more than $20 million to improving the health and smiles of Iowans.
In addition, Mr. Russell is the president and director for the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation and president and CEO of Veratrus Benefit Solutions, Inc., a wholly-owned, for-profit subsidiary of Delta Dental of Iowa. He is a member of the Delta Dental Plans Association Board of Directors, also serving on their Compliance Committee and as co-chair of their eBusiness & Technology Committee.
Prior to joining Delta Dental, Mr. Russell was president and CEO of TMG Financial Services which is one of the 75 largest credit card issuers in the United States, specializing in agent issuing programs for community-based financial institutions and associations. Mr. Russell’s experience also includes serving as chief strategy officer of Affiliates Management Company, as well as having held various senior management positions for The Members Group.
Mr. Russell graduated from Drake University and completed graduate work at the University of Iowa. Currently, Mr. Russell serves on several boards and committees including as director for the Global Insurance Accelerator (serving as board chair), The Veridian Group Board, CU Wireless and Habitat for Humanity of Iowa. He serves as an advisory director for the Bankers Trust Community Board and the IQR Analytics Advisory Board, and is co-chair of the 2015 Walk Committee for Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative. Past board service includes The Members Group, Dwolla, Inc., IQR Analytics, and as president of Rotary Club of Des Moines A.M.
Mr. Russell and his wife, Lisa, live in Des Moines and have three children.
