Drake University and the Greater Des Moines Partnership invite you to join us for the 17th season of Let’s DU Lunch, a professional speaker series that lets you hear firsthand from Drake and community leaders who make Des Moines great.
Wednesday, Sept. 7 - Matthew Woodley, Head Coach of Iowa Energy
Drake alum Matt Woodley became the fifth head coach in franchise history after spending the past two seasons with the organization as the Associate Head Coach. Prior to joining the Energy, Woodley served as the head coach of the Truman State Bulldogs men’s basketball program (2011-2013), served as an Assistant Coach at Washington State University (2006-2009), Middle Tennessee State University (2004-2006) and the University of Denver (2001-2004). Woodley played three seasons for the Bulldogs graduating in 2000. He started 83 games and finished his career as the all-time leader in steals and second all-time in three-pointers. During his senior season, Woodley was named the team’s MVP. Woodley will discuss his Bulldog experience, motivation for relocating back to the great city of Des Moines, and what the future holds for professional basketball in the area.
