Construction simulator

special opportunity coming up, here at IowaWORKS.   Perhaps you saw the article a few months ago about the Construction Simulator.  If not, here is a link: http://wcfcourier.com/business/local/women-try-out-construction-tasks-in-simulator/article_a2af8b8f-7cde-5e77-981a-212ec39b9be5.html   In a nutshell, this is an air-conditioned semi-truck trailer that is full of construction equipment simulators, such as front-end loaders, bull dozers, back hoes, road graders, and welding equipment.  The simulators allow people to get a feel for what it is like to operate this machinery, then give a real-life evaluation.  In one case, a person hit a building during the simulation and found out how much money that would have cost.  The goal is to encourage people who might not have considered working with this sort of machinery to give it a chance, particularly low-income women.  As you may know, for men, the construction industry provides the second-highest income overall and could provide women with a similar income, thereby transforming their earning potential and ability to provide for their families.    IowaWORKS is fortunate enough to be able to host this simulator on-site here July 12th  through July 15th from 9-noon and 1-3:30 each day.  Each simulation lasts about 5 minutes.  People can try any- or all of the different simulations.  Again, this is an excellent opportunity  for anyone interested in these fields,  for someone who  is at a crossroads in their career, or someone who is just starting out and exploring future career pathways, as well as any job developers.   Additionally, we will have leaders from several trade unions as well as representatives from businesses that regularly hire Equipment Operators and Welders.  The thought process is to give attendees direct access to them, so they can discuss possible career pathways available, should they wish  to pursue such a career.   Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
