Event Description:
The Greater Des Moines Partnership is excited to team up with the Iowa Women's Business Center to bring you First Fridays! The goal of First Fridays is for the aspiring entrepreneurs and the people of Greater Des Moines (DSM) to hear from business owners and entrepreneurs who have helped shape the communities in which we live. The speakers are makers, store owners, movers and shakers, creators of regional or national brands, and all have stories that are uniquely their own.
Deshara Bohanna Founder & Designer
Deshara Bohanna is building a name for herself and her company, Design Fetish by Deshara. After earning a BA in Journalism at UAPB and pursuing a graduate degree at Iowa State University, Bohanna worked in corporate America for more than 10 years. In September 2016, the wreath and floral industry found her which lead to a career reset and pursuit of her entrepreneurial dreams. The company initially attracted customers through direct marketing and open-house showcases with local businesses. These designer wreaths are now sold in local hospital boutiques, gift shops and a top purchase item for realtors, event planners, restaurants and hotels. Bohanna launched the business full-time in October 2017 focusing on her mission to create beautiful conversation pieces and décor that uplift, inspire and celebrate life’s special moments.
A passion for designing beautiful things, connecting with people, parenting her three girls and giving back through community service equip her to be a multi-faceted creative entrepreneur poised for a successful career in the arts and floral design industry. Habitat for Humanity, YESS (Youth Emergency Shelter and Services, (After School Arts Programs) (ASAP) and Blank Children's Hospital are a few of the organizations DF has worked closely with.
